Two refrigerators can both “stop cooling” and land on completely different invoices: a drain that needs clearing versus a sealed-system problem. Until those tests happen, a phone quote is entertainment. What you can know in advance is which facts move the number.
We put a written estimate in front of you after diagnosis and before a part goes in. Declining is allowed.
Labor, parts, and access
A dishwasher kickplate is not a wall oven in a tall cabinet. Pulling a slide-in range, recovering refrigerant, or dropping an over-the-range microwave are different kinds of time. The part itself is priced for that model and serial, not for “a generic heating element.”
What changes the number after we arrive
A second failed component found during testing, a seized fastener, or a part that has to be ordered instead of stocked will change the plan. You hear that before the extra work, not on the way out the door.
Why the estimate waits for tests
Symptom lists overlap. “No heat” on a dryer is a vent, a fuse, or an igniter. “No spin” on a washer is a lock, a pump, or a drive. Paying for the wrong one is how cheap phone quotes get expensive. The visit is for choosing the right one.
