Range Repair
A Whirlpool range is two appliances in one cabinet: a cooktop that must ignite or heat on demand, and an oven that has to hold a set temperature. We isolate which side failed before recommending a repair.

What we fix and restore.
Freestanding and slide-in Whirlpool ranges put gas or electric cooking on top of a bake cavity. A burner that clicks without lighting is not the same fault as an oven that never reaches 350°F. Mixing those complaints wastes time. We ask which surface burner, which oven mode, and whether the problem is new after a spill, a self-clean, or a power blip.
On gas models, ignition modules and valves are not something to “clean with a paper clip” beyond what the use-and-care guide allows. On electric models, a dead bake element is visible; a temperature that drifts while the element glows is usually a sensor or control issue.
If you smell gas, do not keep clicking the burner. Vent the room, leave the range off, and treat that as a safety visit rather than a convenience repair.

Common problems we fix.
Typical symptoms we diagnose on-site for this appliance.
One burner clicks and never lights
Preheats slowly or never reaches the set temperature
Uneven flame or a burner that lights then goes out
Display blank, locked, or ignoring the knobs
Self-clean started and never finished
Broil works but bake does not — or the reverse
Whirlpool®
Our diagnostic process.
What we check on site before recommending any repair.
-
Which cooking job failed
Cooktop-only, oven-only, or both. That split decides whether we start at ignition or at the cavity.
-
Ignition and flame quality
On gas, we check spark at the affected burner and whether gas is present at the cap — without dismantling the valve train as a first step.
-
Oven setpoint versus reality
We compare the cavity temperature to the control, then see whether bake, broil, or convection is the mode that failed.
-
Sensors and the control
If heat is present but inaccurate, or the panel is dead, we test the temperature sensor and control response with the range safely isolated.

The repair process.
Clear estimate first — then parts, repair and verification.
-
A repair plan for the failed side
You approve work on the cooktop, the oven, or both, with the cost attached to the diagnosis — not a bundled guess.
-
Component identified for this range
Igniters, elements, sensors, and boards are matched to the model number on the rating plate.
-
Safe reassembly in a tight kitchen
We complete the approved repair, restore panels, and keep gas connections and electrical covers as they were designed.
-
Heat and ignition check
We confirm the affected burner lights or the oven holds temperature for the function you asked us to restore.

-
Technician expertise
Slide-in and freestanding Whirlpool ranges share cavities but not always the same ignition layout. The diagnosis follows the failed function, then the wiring diagram for that model — not a one-size burner kit.
-
Your service guarantee
Workmanship on the completed range repair is described with your estimate. We do not treat an unrelated later failure as the same job.
Safety first Ranges combine line voltage and, on many models, gas. A gas odor means stop using the appliance and ventilate. Do not pull the range out to inspect the regulator unless you are prepared for the gas connection; that is technician work.
Whirlpool®
Frequently asked questions.
Often yes, if the cooktop still lights and there is no gas smell. Do not use the oven until the fault is identified.
Caps, igniters, and spilled sugar fail one location at a time. We test that burner rather than replacing every assembly on the cooktop.
A brief odor on some gas ovens can occur at ignition. A persistent smell, or a smell with no flame, is not something to wait out.
