Cooktop Repair
A Whirlpool cooktop is a set of independent zones. One dead burner does not mean the whole surface is finished — unless the glass is cracked or the control has lost all zones. We test the failed zone first.

What we fix and restore.
Gas Whirlpool cooktops fail at ignition, at a clogged cap, or at a valve that will not open. Electric radiant zones fail at the element or limiter. Induction adds a detection layer: the pan is part of the circuit, so a zone that “does nothing” is often cookware, size, or centering — and sometimes a genuine inverter or sensor fault.
Touch controls that flicker or refuse to wake can be a spill on the glass, a locked control, or a board that is actually failing. We wipe and check lock status before condemning electronics.
A cracked ceramic glass surface is a stop-use condition even if some zones still heat. Do not cover a crack with foil or a trivet and keep cooking.

Common problems we fix.
Typical symptoms we diagnose on-site for this appliance.
One zone stays cold while neighbors still heat
Induction pan not detected, or the zone shuts off under a pot
Gas burner clicks without a flame
Controls flicker, beep, or ignore a tap
Zone cycles wildly or never throttles down
Crack, chip, or burned spot in the glass
Whirlpool®
Our diagnostic process.
What we check on site before recommending any repair.
-
Which zone and which cookware
We confirm the failed location and, on induction, whether the pan is magnetic and sized for that ring.
-
Power at the cooktop versus power at the zone
A whole-surface outage is a supply or main-control problem; a single ring is usually local.
-
Ignition or element test
Gas spark and valve, or radiant continuity and limiter, depending on the surface.
-
Glass and lockout
We inspect the ceramic for damage and clear control-lock or overflow lock before replacing boards.
Whirlpool®
The repair process.
Clear estimate first — then parts, repair and verification.
-
Only the failed cooking zone — unless the glass is unsafe
The estimate matches the diagnosis: one element, one igniter, a control, or a surface that should not be used.
-
Component matched to this cooktop
Elements, inverters, and gas parts are identified from the model label and approved before install.
-
Surface protection
We work without grinding grit into neighboring zones and reseat the cooktop so the seal is even.
-
Heat-on-demand check
We verify the repaired zone responds across a low-to-high range, not just a single “it got hot” test.

Expertise & guarantee.
-
Technician expertise
Whirlpool induction cooktops reject pans for size and material before they ever report a failed part. Separating “wrong skillet” from a dead coil is most of the first visit on those models.

Your service guarantee
Workmanship coverage applies to the cooktop repair you approved. A later crack from impact is not a repair warranty.
Safety first Stop using a cracked cooktop. Gas odors mean shut the cooktop off and ventilate. Induction and radiant surfaces stay electrically live even when the glass looks inert — do not reach under the unit with power on.

Frequently asked questions.
Induction rings have minimum diameters. A small pan can be valid on a 6-inch zone and ignored on an 11-inch zone.
On gas and radiant, often yes if there is no smell, no sparking under the glass, and no crack. Skip the failed zone.
Dry the glass, wait a moment, and look for a lock key. If it stays dead after a dry surface and a breaker reset, the board or ribbon needs testing.
