Error codeF8E3
ApplianceWasher
Quick answer
F8E3 means overflow: too much water or foam in the washer, with detergent and bleach checks.
Model note: Whirlpool reuses codes across series and model years, so F8E3 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

What this codemay mean.
A plain-language reading of the code — always confirm against your model’s documentation.
Mean
F8E3 signals an overflow condition: too much water or foam, or suds detection.
F8E3 is the overflow code. On front load washers it appears when there is too much water or foam in the washer; laundry towers list an overflow condition or suds detection, and compact ventless towers list machine overflow.
Use the right detergent
Use only HE (High Efficiency) detergent and always measure it. With very soft water you may need less. Non-HE detergent, or more than the recommended amount, makes excess suds, and the washer may then spin slower, giving very wet loads or error codes.
Bleach
Avoid “no splash” or “easy pour” liquid chlorine bleach. It contains a thickening agent that may create extra suds. If that was the cause, run the washer with regular liquid bleach.
Clean and reset
When the cycle ends, a Clean Washer cycle is recommended to remove excess detergent and buildup. Then disconnect the washer from power for 5 minutes. If a laundry tower repeats the code, schedule service.
Related codes
F8E1 or Lo FL covers incoming water and F8E2 the dispenser, while F8E6 lists water detected.
