Error codeF8E6
ApplianceWasher
Quick answer
F8E6 has different meanings by model: water detected on laundry towers, lid open or no hot water on top loaders.
Model note: Whirlpool reuses codes across series and model years, so F8E6 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

What this codemay mean.
A plain-language reading of the code — always confirm against your model’s documentation.
Mean
F8E6 means water detected on towers, and lid open or no hot water on top load washers.
The meaning of F8E6 depends on the washer. Whirlpool’s product help describes two cases.
Laundry tower washer section
The potential cause is “water detected.” Reset the control by keeping the washer disconnected from power for 5 minutes. If the code comes back, schedule service.
Top load washers
Depending on the model, F8E6 means one of two things:
The lid was open during the soak cycle. Close it and the cycle resumes.
No hot water was detected. Work through the checks below.
If hot water was not detected
Look at the hoses. The code can mean the cold hose is on the hot inlet and the hot hose on the cold inlet. Reverse them and run another cycle.
Open both the hot and cold water valves fully. Both inlet hoses must be connected for the washer to work properly.
Cycle power to reset the control. Unplug the washer for 5 minutes, then plug it back in.
When F8E6 will not clear, call (310) 448-6692 or open the washer repair page. Have ready the code, whether it is a tower or a top loader, the model number and what you changed at the hoses and valves.
Stop immediately if you notice smoke, sparks, a burning smell, gas odor, or water near electrical parts.
Safe
Important
Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
