Front load washers

The washer cannot spin out water with the excess suds. When Sud or Sd is displayed, it automatically extends the rinse time: it pauses tumbling and adds water for extra rinsing, which lets the bubbles break. This can occur several times, and it is necessary.

If you used “no splash” or “easy pour” liquid chlorine bleach, note that it contains a thickening agent that may create excess suds. Run the washer with regular liquid bleach products.

Top load washers

Sud (or Sd) means excessive suds, and the washer is running a suds reduction routine. Allow it to continue.

HE detergent

HE detergents come in concentrations such as 2x, 4x and 8x, so follow the dosage for soil level and load size. Too much can lengthen cycles, oversuds, rinse poorly and clean poorly. Larger pacs suit only large or heavily soiled loads.
