The facts for this Whirlpool error, a plain-language snapshot, and what to confirm against your model number.
F3E2
Error codeF3E2
ApplianceWasher
Quick answer
F3E2 depends on the washer: top load models point to reversed or closed inlet hoses, compact ventless towers to the water level sensor.
Model note: Whirlpool reuses codes across series and model years, so F3E2 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Whirlpool®
What this codemay mean.
A plain-language reading of the code — always confirm against your model’s documentation.
Mean
If F3E2 is displayed, it could mean the hot and cold inlet hoses have been installed incorrectly.
F3E2 has two readings depending on which Whirlpool washer you own.
Top load washers
Whirlpool says F3E2 could mean the hot and cold inlet hoses were installed the wrong way round: the cold hose on the hot inlet and the hot hose on the cold inlet. Work through these checks.
Look at which hose is on which inlet and correct it if they are swapped.
Open both the hot and cold water valves fully. Both hoses must be connected for the washer to run properly.
Turn the breaker off or unplug the washer, wait 5 minutes, reconnect, and see whether the code comes back.
Compact ventless laundry towers (washer section)
For this series the listing reads simply: potential cause, water level sensor. No owner steps are listed.
Related codes
F3E1 also concerns water level, and F3E3 is the water inlet temperature sensor code on laundry towers.
